MAUL: Ahsoka… Tano, is it? I can’t say yours is a name familiar to me.
Maul begins walking towards Ahsoka.
AHSOKA: Well, I know you.
MAUL: Yes, I imagine we have several mutual friends.
Ahsoka changes stance again as Maul moves around her.
AHSOKA: I wouldn’t put it that way.
MAUL: Of course not. But I’m afraid your way of thinking is behind the times.
Ahsoka secretly taps her wrist com, alerting Rex. Cut to Rex in the sewer entrance.
REX: It’s her. Come on! We’ll trace the signal.
Rex takes a group of clones and heads into the sewers. Cut back to Ahsoka.
MAUL: I was certain that Kenobi would have come himself. Perhaps bring his loyal foal. Skywalker, is it?
AHSOKA: Master Kenobi had a more important engagement.
MAUL: Indeed
Maul smiles, then gazes up.
MAUL: I wonder… The moment may be upon us.
Ahsoka glances up, Rex and the clones continue to move through the sewers.
MAUL: Why you? Why did Kenobi send you?
AHSOKA: Why don’t you surrender, and then we can both go and ask him?
MAUL: (scoffs) My surrendering, well, that would be pointless. For if I am correct, soon the Jedi and Republic will no longer be the controlling interest in the galaxy.
AHSOKA: And who will be? You?
MAUL: No. Darth… (gasps) Sidious.
Ahsoka’s eyes widen, Maul looks up as a Mandalorian is shot from behind and clones move into the intersection. Maul ignites his lightsaber and strikes at Ahsoka. She blocks his attacks.
MAUL: Not yet.
Maul pushes Ahsoka back and uses the force to throw Rex at her, knocking them against a wall. Maul and the surviving Mandalorians escape through a tunnel.
AHSOKA: Come on.
Ahsoka, Rex and the clones follow Maul through the tunnel, they split up. Ahsoka runs through the tunnel system following Maul, only to turn a corner and find Rex and his clones.
AHSOKA: We’ve lost them.
The two armies fight. Cut back to Maul, observing out the window of the throne room.
MAUL: (sighs) Look at them. So blissfully ignorant.
AHSOKA: Care to tell me what this is all about? Or would you rather save it for the Council.
Maul turns to face her.
MAUL: (chuckles) Oh, no, no. You are the one that I wish to speak with.
He begins walking across the room.
MAUL: Were you not cast out of your Order?
AHSOKA: I left voluntarily.
MAUL: Y-yes, but you were motivated to leave by the hypocrisy of the Jedi Council.
Ahsoka goes silent, acknowledging his point.
MAUL: (sighs) We were both tools for greater powers.
Ahsoka walks closer to Maul.
AHSOKA: I am here to bring you to justice.
MAUL: (scoffs) Justice is merely the construct of the current power base. A base, which, according to my calculations, is about to change.
Maul frantically looks around.
AHSOKA: And Darth Sidious is behind it?
MAUL: He is behind everything. In the shadows, always. But soon, very soon… (exhales) he will reveal himself.
AHSOKA: With your help, the Jedi can stop Sidious before it’s too late.
MAUL: Too late? For what? The Republic to fall? It already has, and you just can’t see it! There is no justice, no law, no order, except for the one that will replace it! The time of the Jedi has passed. They cannot defeat Sidious. (inhales) But, together, you and I can.
Ahsoka gives a look of contemplation.
MAUL: Every choice you have made… has led you to this moment.
Maul extends a hand to Ahsoka from across the room, Ahsoka gives him a stern look. Cut to the streets outside, the clones and Mandalorian supercommandos continue fighting. Rook Kast has joined the skirmish and is shown singlehandedly taking down multiple clones alongside Gar Saxon. Cut back to the throne room, Ahsoka is still considering Maul’s offer when the glass wall of the room is shattered by an explosion, sending shards and ash across the room. Ahsoka looks up at Maul.
AHSOKA: I will help you. But you must answer one question.
MAUL: You have but to ask.
Maul extends his hand further.
AHSOKA: What do you want with Anakin Skywalker?
MAUL: He is the key to everything.
AHSOKA: To bring balance to the Force?
MAUL: To destroy. He has long been groomed for his role, as my master’s new apprentice.
AHSOKA: You lie.
MAUL: (laughing) I’m afraid not. In fact, I was so certain of his fate that I orchestrated this war to lure him here with Kenobi, to kill him. Thus, depriving Sidious of his prized pupil.
AHSOKA: I know Anakin.
Ahsoka takes her lightsabers from her hips and ignites them, taking a stance. Maul snarls at her.
AHSOKA: Your vision is flawed.
MAUL: I see the Padawan needs one last lesson.
Maul takes out his double-bladed saber, igniting both ends and holding it out in front of him. Maul spins his saber around himself and lunges at Ahsoka, using the force to scream as he does. Ahsoka dodges his attacks and blocks the following strikes, she then advances on Maul with strikes of her own. Cut to the streets outside, clones are shown being bombarded by missiles from the Mandalorian supercommando’s jetpacks. Cut back to the throne room, Ahsoka and Maul continue to fight, Maul hits Ahsoka in the face and disarms her, sending one of her sabers across the room. She blocks his attacks with a single saber then kicks him away. She uses the force to pull the saber to her hand, narrowly missing Maul as it ignites mid-air.
AHSOKA: You’re lucky Anakin didn’t show up. The way you’re fighting you wouldn’t have lasted long.
They begin to circle each other.
MAUL: Oh, you have Kenobi’s arrogance.
They both take a stance.
AHSOKA: You’ll find I have many qualities for you to dislike.
“I was expecting Kenobi…..”
